We have two Bearded Dragon Lizards pushing up daisies in our herb garden. Vay con Dios, Dorothy.

Posted by Heather at June 6, 2011 9:36 AMOur first deceased pet (a chameleon) enriched the soil in a nearby park. We moved on to the ceremonial bathroom burial at sea (aka toilet) when fish died.
Posted by Nancy at June 6, 2011 9:45 AMHugs and condolences to Mia. Losing a pet is so very hard, but what a lovely idea to bury her in the garden with a beautiful flower - she will always be near!
Posted by cyndy at June 6, 2011 9:50 AMMy thoughts are with Mia in her time of need. I think that Dorothy's sendoff is very appropriate, and I'm glad to hear that she lived to a very ripe old age for a goldfish.
Posted by Dawn at June 6, 2011 3:26 PMRest In Peace, dear departed Dorothy, and condolences to Miss Mia.
Posted by Julee at June 6, 2011 5:01 PMWhen my daughters' first fish died last year, it was the most horrible thing that they had ever gone through - it was rough.
Big hugs to Mia...
I have to admit, when I first saw the title, I had a moment of sheer dread so hearing it was "only" the fish was a bit of a relief, but still, I am sorry for Mia and hope that she heals from the hurt <3
Posted by Heather at June 7, 2011 1:34 AMI am so very sorry for your loss. What a great tribute to Dorothy, and a great plant to lay her to rest under. :)
Posted by Poppy at June 7, 2011 9:56 PMOh my goodness, its a fish- but somehow even still I teared up at that tribute paragraph.
Posted by chalica at June 7, 2011 10:42 PMSorry about Dorothy. I thought my son would be devastated when his first fish died. I worked myself up over how to tell him and after going through my spiel, his response was "Why am I supposed to be sad?" (he was 3!).
Just a word of warning about the foxglove: it's where digoxin comes from, and can be toxic (how toxic is species dependent) so don't let your kids nibble on it!
Posted by Elizabeth at June 8, 2011 7:32 AMOh Mia, I am so sorry for your loss of Dorothy. She was a noble fish.
