Comments: Gay Pride Barn

I really can't wait to hear about this. I have such issues with "Amish Country" I have lived in A my entire life and have had such bad experiences dealing with them, they are not the charming quaint people they want you to believe.

First off when I worked in child services we had more reports of neglect and abuse in their community. They always wanted to be foster parents but we had to remove so many foster children from their care due to neglect issues. Not being fed properly, not clean, not getting necessary medical treatment. It was a nightmare!

Also, they run the largest puppy mills in our country. I will not give them a dime, they are horribly abusive to animals. I helped bust a few puppy mill rings run from Amish farms.

Finally, they aren't so innocent. My husband is a State Trooper- ask him about all the porn in the barns. Lack of electricity? Yeah just for the women...the men have elaborate computer networks in the barns where they trade porn. Not that there is anything wrong with (adult) porn, but don't try to make the world think you are so pious and do it in secrecy.

I have a friend that was Amish. She did her "year out" that teens are encouraged to do and never went back. I used to really respect them, but after hearing her story and then being around Mennonites quite often, I've found that I have as much tolerance for those two cults as I do any other cult. None.

So I absolutely LOVE that you painted their barn with a rainbow roof, and are calling it a Gay Pride Barn. That rocks my socks. Go, O!

Growing up in New Jersey, we visited Amish country once, and my dad convinced an Amish Dad to let set up our pop up camper, and spend a few nights. We rode a buggy, milked some cows, and learned about a much simpler world. It was cool and weird at the same time.

I would just like you to know that I literally laughed out loud when I read that you call the barn "Owen's Gay Pride Barn" -- That is CLASSIC.

Thank you for that random bit of awesomeness today!
